What's New?
Famly in February
All the new features for you to get your teeth into this month.

New year announcements are a little bit too cliched for us.

We may have waited until February to let you know about all the exciting things we’ve been up to, but trust us, it doesn’t make them any less special.

We’ve got news about room-move features that will make your life that bit easier, new revenue reports, and a way to include accident reports in the Famly app. And that’s just for starters.

If you want a little fun, why not take a look at the things we’d just announced this time last year? One thing’s for certain, an awful lot has happened in between.

Move rooms with ease

We know that you want complete flexibility when it comes to moving children between rooms in your setting. So when we built the automatic room-move capability into Famly, that’s exactly what we gave you.

You can set up rules that move children automatically when they reach a certain age, allowing them to move seamlessly within the Famly system. Once you’ve set up a rule you can go through an example with one of your existing children to make sure it’s all correct.

You can even move a child temporarily if you’re trialling them in a new room or if they’re simply in another room for the day. Total control. Total flexibility. That’s what Famly’s all about.

Notes for accident reports and more

There are going to be times when you need to add things to a child’s profile. This could be anything from little notes and remarks right up to full accident or incident reports.

The notes feature now allows you to do just this, including the ability to attach reports or forms. You can use the checkboxes to decide who can see the notes too.

Here are just some of the ways you can use this new feature to keep everything all in one place:

  • Accident reports
  • Incident reports
  • Medical forms
  • Policies and procedures
  • Specialist parent requests
  • Notes on behaviour
Introducing parent observations

Parent partnerships are hugely important to any nursery setting, and to the inspectors at Ofsted too. Well, giving parents the opportunity to take part in their child’s development journey just got easier with the addition of parent observations in Famly.

Just like you, the parents can create drafts, add pictures and make observations. Their notes will then be passed on before they get posted, allowing you to add EYFS links and next steps if you like.

More observations-related news you say? Sure! You can now ‘give’ observations to other practitioners, allowing your staff to make observations in the moment and then make that child’s key person the official author in the news feed.

Sleeping safely

We know that many of you are making sure you do regular sleep checks at nap time, and we wanted to make sure you had a way to track this in Famly.

Now, you can keep parents informed that you are going the extra mile to keep their children safe, by noting down any sleep checks that you’re doing. You can do this on individual children or multiple children at once, all with the click of a button.

A more powerful revenue report

The revenue report has got itself a brand new look.

Now, it’s offering you a more in-depth look at your finances than ever before, with totals per-billpayer alongside a complete breakdown of the different revenue sources at your nursery.

And that’s not all. We’re always looking for ways to help you with making your business more sustainable, and our new budgets feature is designed to do just that.

By setting target budgets for each month of the year, you can track the progress you’re making with your revenue against the targets that you need to make for each month. This should help you take a more controlled approach to your revenue and ensure that you’re running a business that’s in it for the long run.
