Kemi Balogun opened her first setting in Stratford, back in 1994, meaning Alphabet House has been providing childcare in London for over a quarter of a century.
Now, with eight settings to support and over 360 children, Kemi and her team need a system to give them oversight of all the nurseries, so they don’t have to be in two (or eight) places at once!
Director Kemi and Learning and Development Manager Shanice Hollier sat down with us at their Enerby wharf setting to explain why they love Famly, from monitoring children’s development, to fees and invoicing, to staying in touch with parents.
Alphabet House is a group of 8 nursery settings in London, catering for children from 3 months to 5 years.
The team at Alphabet House pride themselves on great relationships with parents, a safe and secure learning environment, and partnership working with outside professionals and agencies such as the Local Early Years Development Team.
You’ll learn about how Famly allows leadership to gain oversight of all the Alphabet House settings, in one place, and how this allows them to support the practitioners working with the children. You’ll also hear how Famly contributes to parent partnerships through the sharing of photos and activities, as well as saving staff time on feeding back about a child’s day.
“For me, as a director, I find that I don’t have to go to every single setting, every day. I can get updates as to what the children are up to and their activities. I can comment and give feedback to the managers and praise the staff when I come across really exciting activities. That’s been really helpful.”

Famly makes better nursery management software. We help hundreds of providers across the UK to streamline the tedious admin and paperwork that comes with running a nursery.
Please note: here at Famly we love sharing creative activities for you to try with the children at your setting, but you know them best. Take the time to consider adaptions you might need to make so these activities are accessible and developmentally appropriate for the children you work with. Just as you ordinarily would, conduct risk assessments for your children and your setting before undertaking new activities, and ensure you and your staff are following your own health and safety guidelines.
