“I was in need of breaking new ground,” says Shelley Beckman, the Director of Reynolda Preschool in North Carolina. The preschool has been around for over 20 years, and is a part of a Church that has been around for over 115 years, so she is thrilled that Famly was able to help bring her “center into the 21st century and beyond.”
She came in with three specific needs, and Famly not only met those, but exceeded Shelley’s expectations.
Listen below to learn how Famly has improved her administration, parent communication and staff management, and overall, has made her feel way more confident and empowered in her role as Director.
Who is Shelley Beckman and Reynolda Preschool?
Having been a teacher for many years, Shelley is now in her second year as the Director of Reynolda Preschool. Reynolda is a half-day program with about 130 students between 1 and 6 years old.
The curriculum is built on the belief that children's engagement in meaningful play is essential to early development. Through activities, lessons and play - both indoors and outdoors - the little ones develop and strengthen their literacy, math, science, art, music and movement and social skills, and some Spanish too!
What will I learn?
How Famly has exceeded Shelley’s expectations. You will hear how Famly met her three specific needs:
Also, how Famly has streamlined and made her day-to-day so much less stressful than she could have imagined. And she knows “she has only dipped her toes,” and that Famly has so much more to offer.
And also, going from pen and paper, sticky notes and spreadsheets, onboarding and learning Famly’s software was seamless, simple and easy for her, the parents and all the staff.

Please note: here at Famly we love sharing creative activities for you to try with the children at your setting, but you know them best. Take the time to consider adaptions you might need to make so these activities are accessible and developmentally appropriate for the children you work with. Just as you ordinarily would, conduct risk assessments for your children and your setting before undertaking new activities, and ensure you and your staff are following your own health and safety guidelines.
